About The Artist:
My name is Marianne Maisy and I'm an artist from Shrewsbury, UK.
As a child, I always had an instinct to draw and craft, encouraged every step of the way. One story I like to tell is how l'd draw cats for my grandmother and stick them around her house for her to find. At school, I was the quiet, reserved kid who was always drawing; my artwork would often speak for me and allow me to be seen. It didn't matter the medium — I just loved to create.
I studied art and design in college before diving into an illustration degree in my late teens. Both courses were opportunities for me to explore different areas of the artistic world. However, my university degree was cut short by a diagnosis of M.E. and fibromyalgia after a long and treacherous mental health battle. These health challenges have profoundly influenced my artistic journey, shaping both my style and vision.
Living with a chronic condition has taught me to create spontaneously, conserving energy while expressing deep and heartfelt themes.
I love many areas of creativity, from fashion and beauty to interior and graphic design. Besides my artistic endeavours, my passions in life lie in nature; the clean air and lush colours of the natural world inspire me endlessly. There's always a smile on my face when I'm near animals. I have a Maine Coon called Cosmo, who is often beside me as I work on my illustrations. I'm an avid tea drinker, café hopper, and a major sweet tooth.
I care deeply about mental health and bettering the world we live in, and I believe in creating a safe space to spread a positive
message.
